Powder Coating & Finishes
The Powder Coating Process
STEP 1: SURFACE PREPERATION
STEP 2: CHEMICAL PRETREATMENT
STEP 3: DRYING & GROUNDING
STEP 4: POWDER APPLICATION
A polyester powder is sprayed onto the aluminum using electrostatic equipment. The powder is drawn to the grounded surface and wraps evenly around each part, leaving full coverage without drips or uneven spots.
STEP 5: BAKING & CURING
The coated pieces go into a curing oven, where the powder melts and bonds permanently to the surface. The temperature and time are controlled so the finish becomes a solid, durable layer that will not chip, peel, or chalk.
STEP 6: COOLING & INSPECTION
Economy Coating Vs. Power Fence Coating
Economy Powder Coating
Power Fence Powder Coating
Surface Prep
Quick wipe or light cleaning. Residue often left behind.
Full cleaning, etching, and chemical pretreatment to ensure a perfect bond.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Full cleaning, etching, and chemical pretreatment to ensure a perfect bond.
Bonding Process
Powder applied directly to bare metal. Weak adhesion.
Conversion coating fuses to the metal, creating a corrosion-resistant base layer.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Conversion coating fuses to the metal, creating a corrosion-resistant base layer.
Powder Thickness
Thin and uneven, often missing corners or edges.
Consistent coverage over every surface, rail, and weld.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Consistent coverage over every surface, rail, and weld.
Curing
Quick bake or air dry with minimal bonding.
Controlled high-temperature bake that melts the powder into a single, solid finish.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Controlled high-temperature bake that melts the powder into a single, solid finish.
Finish Quality
Flat, chalky texture that fades or peels quickly.
Smooth, rich surface with depth and long-lasting color.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Smooth, rich surface with depth and long-lasting color.
Durability
Chips easily in heat, moisture, or salt air.
Holds up to South Florida weather without fading or chalking.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Holds up to South Florida weather without fading or chalking.
Longevity
Looks good briefly, then starts to dull or flake.
Stays vibrant and protective for many years.
Power Fence Powder Coating: Stays vibrant and protective for many years.
