Permit & HOA Rules By City
Broward & Palm Beach Counties
Every city down here has its own fence rules. Some care about how tall it is, others about how far it sits from the property line. Then you’ve got HOAs that sometimes have a whole different set of expectations. It can be
confusing if you don’t deal with it every day.
That’s what we do at Power Fence. We handle the permits, the paperwork, and the back and forth with the city
or HOA so you don’t have to. We’ve done this enough to know who to talk to, what they’ll ask for, and how to get
your fence approved without slowing the project down.
The tables below give a basic idea of what each city allows. These are just general guidelines. Some
neighborhoods or zoning areas have extra details that we’ll check for you before we file the permit.
Broward County
Most Broward cities stick to the same plan. Usually four feet in the front and six feet in the sides and back. Some
will let you go higher depending on zoning or where the fence sits. Corner lots need a little visibility space near
the road, and we always make sure that’s covered before we start.

Palm Beach County
Palm Beach is pretty similar. Most cities allow four feet in the front yard and six feet along the sides and back.
Some, like Boynton Beach, allow more depending on the property or zoning.
We check all of it before anything gets submitted. Whether it’s Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, or Palm
Beach Gardens, we make sure you’re covered before the first hole is dug.
HOA Requirements
If your neighborhood has an HOA, there are usually extra steps. Some HOAs control the color, material, or
spacing of your fence, while others limit placement or do not allow fences in the front yard at all.
We handle that part as well. Our team prepares the drawings, product information, and photos that your HOA
needs for review. Once they approve it, we move on to the city permit and take care of scheduling and
inspections.
How We Handle It
1. We look up your address and check city
and HOA rules before anything starts.
2. We put together drawings or any documents needed for approval.
3. We file the permit and follow it through until inspection.
4. We build your fence right the first time and make sure it passes code.
